Sad Times

By Jim Bryce

What a sad end for a fine ship, this pic shows Undaunted being used for target practice. She was towed to Gibraltar and they had two attempts to sink her, after the first attempt she was towed into Gibraltar and all the raggy bits taken off. She went to the bottom at the second attempt.

This pic was taken during the second attempt to sink her, the damage from the first attempt is apparent on the focsle, but she succumbed to the next hit.

This pic is of Undaunted in Gib, after the first go at sinking her.

Undaunted in Gib, as well as the missile damage, the dents from the many hard landings against the Coaling Jetty at Portland are visible. We nearly went through it a couple of times
